Why a job shows as already started

Understand why a field job can show as already started or already active, and what to check before you create duplicate time or travel records.

Why a job shows as already started

Exact failure state

You try to start travel or start the job, but the system says the job is already started, already completed, or already active.

What it means

The job already has a live or prior execution state. That usually means one of these is true:

  • travel already started
  • on-site work already started
  • the job is paused and should be resumed
  • the job is already completed

Immediate fix

1. Open the job and check the live state first:

2. If the job is En route, either start the on-site job from that state or cancel travel if the trip is no longer happening. 3. If the job is Paused, resume it instead of starting it again. 4. If the job is Finished, stop and confirm whether it should be re-opened before more work is recorded.

  • En route
  • In progress
  • Paused
  • Finished

When to escalate

  • Escalate when the job state in the app does not match what is really happening on site.
  • Escalate before retrying start if another crew member may already have a live run on that job.
  • Escalate immediately if starting again would create false time, duplicate attendance, or a bad audit trail.
